New FutureLearn Course “Participating in the Internet: How to Engage Actively in Cyberspace” Launches on 28 July

We are pleased to announce the launch of a new FutureLearn course, “Participating in the Internet: How to Engage Actively in Cyberspace”, which will be available from 28 July.

Have you ever wondered what a healthy internet looks like? In today’s world, where so much of our lives unfolds online, questions naturally arise:
Who governs the internet? Who maintains its infrastructure? And those URLs we share every day, how are they created? Are there rules for naming and allocating domain names?

Once you start asking questions about the internet, many more follow. The internet often feels like air, unnoticed when it’s working well, but behind it is a complex global ecosystem of organisations and individuals working to keep it open, inclusive, and sustainable.

This course invites you to explore those systems and communities, and to better understand the structure and governance of the internet. It builds on the earlier “Understanding the Internet” course and offers a deeper look at how individuals and communities can contribute to the health and future of the online world.
