Description:
This “Shiohi no tsuto” is one of the representative (illustrated book) by Kitagawa Utamaro—a famous Japanese ukiyo-e artist. The title “Shiohi no tsuto” means ‘a gift from clam digging’ and the book was made with novel technique of woodblock printing at that age. He draw 36 types of shells, beautiful women paintings (like Ukiyo-e) with Kyoka—a comic poem—which was quite popular at that age.
